Service Description
Hypertension is one of the most common chronic conditions in North America—often linked to high sodium intake from processed foods. Left unmanaged, it increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, and kidney complications. In this session, we assess your diet and lifestyle to identify improvements based on evidence-based guidance. You’ll learn to read food labels, reduce sodium, cook smart at home, and understand the DASH diet. We’ll also explore key nutrients (calcium, magnesium, potassium), and lifestyle factors like sleep, exercise, and stress. Follow-ups are available to track progress and make adjustments. • Assessing your current dietary habits and lifestyle and suggest recommendations to adjust your diet and maintain your blood pressure and ideally prevent developing hypertension by learning simple rules from evidence-based science information. • Education is a big part it. Learn how to read food labels on the food packaging to avoid high salt food and learn how much sodium you need to take • Eat salt smart! Learn about sodium reduction strategies when preparing meals at home, eating at the restaurants, sodium substitutes, and other spices to replace sodium • Learn about high blood pressure specific diets such as DASH diet • Receive Dash diet recipes • Learn how to eat healthy with a diet rich in vegetables, whole grains, fruits, and natural antioxidants to manage your high blood pressure • Learn about the impact of other minerals on blood pressure and fluid balance (calcium, potassium, and magnesium) and know how to receive adequate amount of them • Learn about other lifestyle factors that have impact on blood pressure such as exercise, stress, alcohol consumption, and sleep hygiene • Learn to manage your body weight to help manage blood pressure • Learn about other medical conditions that contribute to hypertension: diabetes, kidney disease, obstructive sleep apnea • Do a follow up to monitor your progress and make changes if needed

Booking Policy – Nutri for Family Counselling We are excited to support you on your health journey! To ensure smooth and fair access to our services, please review the following booking policies: Session Scheduling Appointments must be booked at least 24 hours in advance. Clients can select their preferred language: English, French, or Farsi (Persian). Sessions are held online via a secure video platform. A link will be sent to your email upon confirmation. If you have any accessibility needs, please let us know when booking. Payment Policy Full payment is required at the time of booking. Secure payment options are available via the website. Receipts for insurance or tax purposes can be provided upon request. Rescheduling and Cancellation You may reschedule or cancel your appointment up to 24 hours before your session with no penalty. To cancel or reschedule, please use the link in your confirmation email or contact us directly at info@nutriforfamilies.com Missed appointments or cancellations within 24 hours are non-refundable. Late Arrivals If you are late, your session will still end at the scheduled time to respect other clients. If you are more than 15 minutes late without notice, the session will be considered missed.
